Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

On Thursday 2 March 2017, about 30 students from our Special Subject ‘The Weary Titan: Britain, her Empire and the World 1897-1919’, the Option ‘Warfare at Sea from the Armada to D-Day’, and the MA History of Warfare spent the day at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. After a special tour of the Mary Rose in her splendid new museum we toured HMS Victory and the National Museum of the Royal Navy exhibition on the Battle of Jutland before a session discussing Public History with the Curator. It was a fascinating and enjoyable day.

Special thanks to Kate Shuttleworth at the Mary Rose and Nick Hewitt at the NMRN for making it possible.
